A Tribute To Rambo
We buried you today, dad and I
It weighted so heavy on our hearts
We choose a place beside the garden
That you loved so much
We knew you would want to be close by
So you could chase away intruders
As you did that day in service
When you gave up your life
Our dearest Rambo,
You shall never be forgotten
You will live forever in our hearts.
"You think that dogs will not be in heaven?? I tell you, they will be there before any of us."
THE BEST PLACE TO BURY A DOG
There is one best place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot, he will
come to you when you call - come to you
over the grim, dim frontier of death,
and down the well-remembered path,
and to your side again.
And though you call a dozen living
dogs to heel, they shall not growl at
him, nor resent his coming,
for he belongs there.
People may scoff at you, who see
no lightest blade of grass bent by his
footfall, who hear no whimper,
people who may never really have had a dog.
Smile at them, for you shall know
something that is hidden from them,
and which is well worth the knowing.
"The one best place to bury a good
dog is in the heart of his master."
--- Ben Hur Lampman ---
..Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you...
I loved you so - 'twas Heaven here with you.
~Isla Pachal Richardson~
"Some friends come into our lives and quickly go.
Some friends stay awhile and leave footprints on our hearts,
And we are never the same."
"My sunshine doesn't come from the skies,
it comes from the love in my dogs eyes."
"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."
~ Roger Caras~
For one species to mourn the death of another is a noble thing.
~ Aldo Leopold ~
"Memories Are Golden"
They say memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No one can ever fill.
"He's your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
"The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched.
They must be felt with the heart."
Our Yorkshire Terrier
There are many little terrier dogs
Of every size and hue,
But the one I'd like to mention here
Is shaded tan and blue.
He's a cocky little devil
He isn't any saint,
And a sappy little lap-dog
Is the very thing he ain't!
He struts along the garden path
His eyes boot-button bright,
And God help anyone who strays
That comes into his sight.
His owners fear no burglars
For every sound he hears,
The softest, quietest footsteps
Will not pass his pricked up ears.
And if he is disturbed at night
Or danger is at hand,
He makes more of a racket
Than a fifty piece brass band!
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear.
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care
I want to reassure you, I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key,
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired and then you sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday
And say with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew
That in that stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over...I smile and watch you yawning
And say, "Goodnight, sweet dreams, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide
I'll rush to greet you and we'll stand together side-by-side.
I have so many things to show you,
There's much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out
Then come home and be with me.
This page is dedicated to Rambo,
who was snatched from his yard by a bobcat.
He came into my life shortly after I lost my son, Matthew.
Rambo taught me I can love again, I can live again,
and I can have my heart broken again.
We Miss You Bo.
